I was actually surprised, given that our school doesn’t accept anyone who didn’t make it into our class. It’s the only college that I attended where I didn’t have to worry about whether or not I’d be accepted, but I can’t help but wonder if there were more than just a few students who didn’t make it into the program.
If it’s any consolation, there are about a bazillion students around the country who have made college and are still waiting for their applications to be processed.
I’m sure there are people who were rejected from amherst. I know I was. However, the ones who were accepted, it turns out were those who applied in the fall, who were accepted, and who were actually accepted. They were accepted at the same time I was, but had to leave a couple months before me in the process.
It’s been a while, but amherst is still accepting applications. There is a waiting list, but the number of applications has been climbing every year.
Its been a while since the Amherst college acceptance rate has been this high. That doesn’t surprise me because there is a wait list.
It was a while ago that there was an Amherst college acceptance rate of 90% (or so it says on the web site). It has been climbing since. Maybe thats a sign that Amherst is slowly getting more mature, or maybe its just that the wait times are getting shorter for the applicants. Who knows.
The truth is that the official acceptance rate has been declining in recent years and may be on the way down in the next few years. The number of applications has been steadily increasing the past couple of years and may be on the rise again. A lot of applicants (and it seems, especially at Amherst) are not sure whether they want to go to Amherst or not.
The reason for this decline is that there are fewer and fewer applicants for Amherst than there used to be. This may also be because of the new college application process. The old way of getting into Amherst was to fill out a questionnaire and send in your essays and recommendations. This would allow you to get into the college and then fill out a questionnaire, wait a year or two, and then reapply for admission. The new way is to make a video interview.

I hope that all of you taking college applications this year have put together a video interview. Because the old way isn’t that great. I hope the new way is a lot better. And I’m glad that amherst is doing the video interview.
