That is, it will emulate a VM that has the correct drivers installed to run on a specific hardware. You can use a tool like qemu-user-static or qemu-img-static to create a VM that has the necessary hardware and drivers.

vmrun is the tool that you will most likely use to create a virtual machine. Like all tools, it’s not very powerful, yet it works well. I use it often to run virtual machines with my Linux servers.
